We can’t actually pinpoint the exact date the Ivy Room was born — when you go that far back, there are no business records — but it was sometime in the early Forties. So it’s safe to say, Ivy Room has many stories to tell, and has lived many lives. It’s been a neighborhood bar, a music venue, a martini lounge, and a really scary old-man bar. One thing’s for sure, there’s legendary folklore surrounding the place.
In 2012, Ivy Room came under new ownership of Ronaldo Colli, Master Mixologist and his wife, Tanya, Co Owner. Their goal is to make Ivy Room a cool neighborhood bar that you won’t have to go to the city to find. The vibe is casual, artisan and filled with quirky vintage fixtures and reclaimed materials.
The Handcrafted Cocktails
So, the cocktails are custom, classic and fresh, we can’t stress that enough. One of our priorities is to provide handcrafted cocktails created by Master Mixologist Ronaldo Colli, and his team of trained mixologists. All our drinks include fresh, local and house made ingredients. We make our own bitters, syrups, and liqueurs. And we’re proud to say that the cocktail menu has won several awards.
The Live Music
The Ivy Room is an East Bay music institution that has been home to dozens of local musicians and touring bands. This tradition of presenting great live music and performance artists continues today. We book rockabilly, blues, pop, hip hop, rock, swing, bluegrass, funk, jazz and comedy.
Bands that have played The Ivy Room include Chuck Prophet, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Jim Campilongo, the Loved Ones, Deke Dickerson, Dave Gleason, Lavay Smith and Carlos Guitarlos. They’ve all found themselves playing Ivy Room’s small, funky stage.
